The Corrymeela Community is proud to present ‘Upstanding- Stories of courage from Northern Ireland’. The 'Upstanding' series is made up of three products:

1. A film featuring ten diverse accounts from people who stood up to violence, discrimination or prejudice in Northern Ireland.

2. A story book featuring transcripts from the film, plus a further six stories.

3. An Educator's Guide to support classroom use.

The series has been produced as part of ‘Facing our History, Shaping the Future’, a Corrymeela Community project in partnership with Facing History and Ourselves.

The resources will be used by post-Primary schools across Northern Ireland and beyond to explore what it means to show courage and stand up to violence in difficult circumstances. We believe it is important for young people in particular, to learn that amongst our violent past there were also those who took risks for peace, often with difficult consequences. There is much we can learn from their actions to support us in the present.
